In front of Saint Ange school, the CM1 pupils (Year 4) helped to install this elevated micro-garden made up of purple spinach, mustard greens, basil and other lettuces.
Hydroponics involves growing plants without soil but with irrigation water.
In just 3 weeks, and with impressive speed of growth, the plants reached their maximum size! It was already time to harvest them and distribute to families!
By introducing children to hydroponics, Saint Ange is demonstrating its commitment to raising awareness of sustainable development issues. This innovative agricultural technique makes it possible to produce crops while reducing the use of water and fertilisers, which can help preserve natural resources and meet the food challenges of the future.
